Thymulin References: What the Papers Reported

Thymulin is a hormone studied mostly in cells and animals. This page tells you what each paper found and whether people were tested.

What did the fifteen thymulin papers study?

Scientists know thymulin as a hormone that works only after zinc joins it. This page covers all fifteen papers used here and says what each one found. The papers span four decades. A key paper from 1982 proved the zinc link. A 2020 paper found that damaged mouse lungs returned to normal after lung cells received a gene for making thymulin. Human work is scarce, old, and mostly about the hormone people make themselves. The number beside a finding leads you to the matching paper below, where you can read the title, date, and full source.

Which thymulin paper answers each main question?

Start with zinc. Dardenne's 1982 test found that removing zinc stopped thymulin's measured cell effect [1]. A 1994 review brought the zinc findings together [2]. Work from 1989 found that zinc-bound thymulin helped young T cells mature [12]. The closest human work is Prasad's 1988 zinc study [3] and a study of women with cervical cancer [13]. Both measured the thymulin people made themselves; neither gave it as a drug.

Four animal papers found less harmful inflammation. Novoselova's 2014 mouse test found lower amounts of inflammation-causing substances and strain proteins in blood [6]. Lunin's 2008 mouse work found a similar drop [9]. Haddad's 2013 rat study found lower activity from a protein that starts inflammation in brain cells [10]. The diabetes test found lower blood sugar and fewer inflammation-causing substances in mice [8]. Da Silva's 2020 paper reports the mouse lung result [7]. Santos reviewed animal lung work in 2010 [15].

Two reviews found that thymulin can make the gland under the brain release hormones and described gene treatment in animals [4][5]. Mocchegiani's 2004 paper found that aging tissue may trap zinc before thymulin can use it [14]. Saitoh's 2004 mouse test found less damage to pancreas cells [11]. The animal record is detailed, but modern human proof remains thin.
